Day 32: Looking Back, Looking Forward, and Now!
Hard to believe that The PURSE-onality Challenge is officially over.
31 days of replacing “baditude” with God’s word and gratitude + 9 warm-up days = 40 days (and nights!) of journeying together!
Looking Back
I’d love you to tell me about your May.
- What worked?
- What didn’t work?
- What are you learning?
- What are others noticing?
- What’s changing?
Looking Forward
“Let’s do it again!”
Several e-mails have suggested this. I thought it tonight when I realized, rather sadly, that I didn’t have a new verse to post on Facebook.
I’m planning to “do it again”. What better way to lay a strong foundation for a peaceful, hope-filled, joyous holiday season!
And I’ve got my eye on July. Perhaps as a time to supplement with more teaching on the PURSE-onalities… perhaps extra focus on gratitude… perhaps in-depth studies of not just verses but full stories from the life of Christ…
- What other ideas come to mind?
- What do you feel was missing/lacking?
- What would you like to see added/included/elaborated?
The Here and Now
I am a collaborative learner (my favorite word is synergy!) so I expected to learn a lot by taking this journey with a bunch of other women.
But I had no way of imagining:
(a) how great this bunch of women would be, or
(b) how much I would be pushed, encouraged, and challenged to grow!
Looking back at the past 40 days, I am awash with with gratitude; all I can think to say is
THANK YOU!!!
…for reading and commenting
…for sending e-mails with your thoughts and experiences
…for letting me know that something I wrote made a difference for you. (I am still blown away to discover how many sister Anxiety Girls are out there!)
Looking forward, I will be spending the month of June slowly responding to all comments…something I regret I was unable to do during May.
This weekend, I’ll be putting together a few short surveys about various aspects of The PURSE-onality Challenge. I’ll send them out next week.
And for right now, I’ll leave you with my 2012 verse:
And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
Ezekiel 36:26

Wow… So much “good stuff,” Cheri! Thank you for your labor of love for us as you so masterfully express the problems and solutions with our mouths. MY mouth… Your wit and humor definitely help the medicine go down. Your transparency is beautiful, and it shows me again how “confessing our faults to one another brings healing.” I asked my husband if he’d do the challenge with me, and he graciously agreed. (What a guy! It’ll perhaps be insightful to him about me, as well as helpful insights for him.) Thanks so much!!! Many blessings and love to you! May the Lord continue to pour in and through you powerfully to all…
I wasn’t able to do the whole study, but I started off and realized what a baditude I had and I determined to be way less complaining especially in my posts on FB which is where I did it the most and it was great! This was a wonderful study!
Great challenge, thank you. I’m looking forward to learning more on July and round 2 in October.

YEAH… I definitely need to keep challenging myself. It seemed to get harder the more I realized how much I complained (plus I went to a marriage retreat in the middle of the month, so that added more to think about)… :\
I signed up to do this with you with the best of intentions… but health issues, and home issues kept me from it. So I have no feedback on this go-’round, but I do very much hope you’ll do it again!
Thank you for this past 31 days…of life enriching knowledge!! God knew what I needed and the tools I needed to help me through the trials and struggles…I have learned so much about myself and because of this lesson I have learned how to deal with situations that just took over my whole being and personality…
God is in control now and I turn to him to help me with all things…Its not me its all God…
That is a beautiful and encouraging verse. Thank you!
I would so love to do an in-depth study on the PURSE-onalities! 🙂
Can’t believe the challenge is over! You have been a blessing to so many of us throughout this challenge. I can’t begin to count the number of times when you spoke directly to me through your posts. It was exactly what I needed to hear, at that moment. Looking forward to the future challenges. Bring it on! God Bless, Connie Y
Thanks for the challenge and all the encouragement throughout the challenge.
Noooo, tell me it’s not over!! I really did enjoy it! 🙂 Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication, and for writing about difficult heart issues!! I look forward to October!!
Thank you so much Cheri for doing this challenge! I learned a lot about myself and really focused on my “baditude”. The bracelet helped a lot. It gave me a visual reminder to think about all that He has given me. I appreciate your openness, honesty, and sincerity. We are all a work in progress. He is working in me and I’m so thankful for His grace, mercy, forgiveness, and His love! I’ll be praying for you! God Bless!
A friend and I who learned of the Purse-onality Challenge from another friend will be going through all the posts. . .starting yesterday. She has the journal. I don’t, yet.
I love your heart for women.
Thank you so much for doing this for us. I was truly blessed by the study. I definitely would love to go back through it again like you mentioned.
What worked the most for me was taking the negative and replacing it with God’s Word. Instead of gripping and complaining to think on those things that are lovely, honest, trustworthy, etc.
Replacement thinking it is what I call it.
Thank you again.

I definitely am looking forward to October!
Learned a lot about who I am and what I want to
be and even changed a few of the negatives.
Thanks so much for this class. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Cheri, I give you permission to not reply to any of my comments! Save your precious time for others & yourself!!
Blown away by your posts, I don’t think I could summarize how I grew from it. Definitely helped my awareness of my reactions to others.
Just loved Purseonality. Thank you do much for doing it & your commitment!!
