Day 11: MASTERPIECE
Crowning achievement.
Me?
Magnum opus.
Me?
Piece de resistance.
Me?
Be real.
Paint
Do you have any idea how much help I need to look good enough for church?
Sure, I “clean up okay”– thanks to my friend Mary Kay!
But my life needs far more than make-up:
My track record
- is blemished beyond concealer.
My past
- is stained by the deep blush of shame.
My deeds
- are pitted beyond polish.
My memories
- lie in dark shadows.
No amount of make-up will make me a masterpiece.
Chisel
Do you have any idea how much would need to be removed for me to become a civil human being?
For starters:
1. My annoyance with drivers who can’t seem to find their turn signals
2. My fury with my husband when he tells me what we’re doing rather than asking me if it’s convenient for me.
3. My dismay with my children when they don’t act like my white-washed version of who I tell myself I was at their age.
4. My peevishness at Starbucks when they don’t have any more cranberry orange scones at 5:30 PM.
Chip away at my faults and nothing will be left to put on display!
Me?
(Can’t see image? Download Ephesians 2:10 here.)
Seriously, this has to be a mistake.
There’s no way on earth
(literally!)
that I am
God’s masterpiece.
Don’t get me wrong; it sounds lovely.
Amazing, in fact, but
too good to be true.
I know myself too well.
I can never be that good.
Good enough to go on display?!?
God!
But
it is written:
God is shining His spotlight
on you and me.
Not because of us.
Because of who we’ve become
by the chisel of his kindness
by the paintbrush of his grace
Created anew!
To do the good things he’s been planning just for us!
(Not doing good things
so that we can recreate ourselves.
The lie
that we are our own artists
is the enemy’s “masterpiece”
but that’s a story for another day.)
In you and me,
He unveils for all to see
His greatest work, His labor of love,
His most precious perfect gift:
the rescue and recreation of
our true selves in Him
for all eternity!
Try this today:
1) If you haven’t seen it before, or recently, take 12 minutes to take “God’s Chisel” to heart. Click here: “God’s Chisel“
2) Find an artist’s tool – a paintbrush, a small palette, a colored pencil and place it near your mirror. Each day, when you see it, say aloud, “Jesus, I choose to trust you when you say that I am Your masterpiece!”

Alas, as a Masterpiece my countenance should be glowing from my face time with the Creator of the Universe but apparently my human face invites complaining. Perhaps at some point in time I felt pride at being an approachable and safe person with whom others could share. My DREAM is to be and do what God created me to be and do and I am praying anew to be part of the solution for evey encountered problem. PTL He does not give up on me.
I really enjoyed watching God’s Chisel. I showed my husband and he was blessed as well. I’ve been printing off all the Bible verses you are sending and then attaching them to colored cardstock and hanging them all over the house. My husband enjoys reading them and commenting on them. (He’s going through a difficult time right now and trying to flood his mind with Scripture.) What a blessing these blogs have been!
I am fearfully and wonderfully made! I thought about that scripture after reading today’s blog…
I am an empty nester after 22 years of marriage and I need to win your book because, I also was a stay at home mom. Now trying to figure out who I am and what to do with 3 children in college #mrsvictory
What I needed to hear today! How do you do it? I know it’s the Holy Spirit workin through you. Just last night I laid in bed lamenting my split personality to my husband who reminded me that God made me this way said it was good. If it’s good to Him who am I to disagree with Him? My Melancholy self had to still moan and groan about it. I do have a split personality Sanguine and melancholy. Two that mix like oil and water. But he was right and you are right. I am His masterpiece! Now if only I could see myself that way… Thanks for the post, again!
I love the Skit Guys! Great analogy…thanks for the reminder that no matter what, we are His works of art!
Great post!
WHOA!!! I don’t even have words…… mmm mmm mmm – GOOD!!! Thank you God for seeing beyond the blemishes that the world reminds me of every single moment and seeing ONLY the masterpiece that you created me to be! WOW!!!!!
“He’s still working on me to make me what I ought to be. It took HIM just a week to make the moon and the stars, the sun and Earth, and Jupiter and Mars. How loving and patient HE must be! He’s STILL WORKING ON ME!!!”
“Over and over, HE molds me and makes me. Into HIS IMAGE, HE fashions the clay! And when I stumble and fall, and my vessel breaks, HE just picks up the pieces! HE doesn’t throw the clay away!!!”
Aren’t you glad!? I know I am!!!
I feel that my internal words are being changed! I catch myself almost complaining and then say Oh, well. I will start using the Scripture verse for the day. I need to put it up somewhere in my house so I can see it quick! Thanks again for this great study!
This book would be such a blessing to receive! I know God has put dreams and gifts and talents on the inside of me…but this could help me to realize them and live them!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! This helps me to daily confurm that we are perfect in Gods eyes. We don’t have to keep beliveing the devil.
Oh, what would happen if I treated myself as the masterpiece that God created instead of tearing myself down. This verse will go on my makeup box. A reminder I am His and am beautiful to Him; a reminder to love/live like Him. I’d love to get Cindi’s book; she’s a great speaker and I want to find my dreams for life.

Amazing!! Would be a blessing to receive this book!!
AWESOME…..Why do I have to be hit upside the head with a hammer to realize this or piece by piece chiseled away….
Faith, Trust, and his Love….He died for me…Thank you Jesus…
Forgive me when I forget…and thank you for this study to help me daily to remember …who I am…Your Child. AMEN
I am God’s masterpiece, I am God’s masterpiece, I am God’s masterpiece…
Powerful. I believe this will lead to change in attitude for me and my way of thinking.
