  1. i can relate to – “And the most frequent victim of my efforts has, sadly, been my husband. You know, the man I vowed to “love, honor, and cherish”…and then immediately attempted to “tweak, repair, and ultimately overhaul”…but i’m learning as i said in my Marriage monday.

  2. Cheri!

MY MY MY….how alike are we? I’m choleric too…with some sanguine….so enough said ;o)

I can’t believe how much I identified with this post. I especially “got it” when you said:

“And the most frequent victim of my efforts has, sadly, been my husband. You know, the man I vowed to “love, honor, and cherish”…and then immediately attempted to “tweak, repair, and ultimately overhaul”!

Girl…you hit the nail on the head…What is…IS! Thank you for sharing this…what a WONDERFUL post!

    Much love
    Jen

  3. It sounds like you might have the gift of vision and leadership. Isn’t that what a teacher or a mother is? (You are a teacher, right?) A visionary for the lives and growth of her students/children?

And it sounds like you’d also be a terrific fiction writer!

On the other hand, you’re SO right. Misapplied, our vision to make over our husbands is not what God intends. At all. Trying to be the Holy Spirit in their lives is futile… and even damaging. A man’s deepest heart cry is “Just accept me as I am.” No grown man wants to be “mothered” by his wife!

I’m so glad God gave me a husband who allows me to “vent” about problems, while he goes happily about solving them… like your astronauts. Sounds like your husband is similar. Amen?

I’m sorry for the loss of your former high school teacher, Cheri.

Thanks for joining us for Marriage Monday, today! Enjoy your coffee…

    Blessings, e-Mom ღ

  4. This is very good advice Cheri. When we dwell in what-could-have-beens, we miss out on what IS. Thank you.

  5. Very good reminder! Contentment, great gain! Conditional joy always seem to be lacking due to the conditions not being ever meet well enough. Thanks!
