How to Find a Dream That Will Last a Lifetime

  1. Cheri, such an appropriate topic… I’ve had dreams and goals that seem to have now ended…. Now what? I feel the door was slammed shut. I’m not certain which way to go for now. I really don’t know which way to go or what to do… I have been praying and trusting God to know what next, yet feel like I need to be doing something. I feel completely stripped clean, professionally I have lost the heart for my work through betrayal of coworkers, a divorce that began 5 years ago, and now the loss of my earthly father. My heart hurts and this is the first time in my life I really do not know which way to go. I feel pruned to the nub, and yet I do trust Him. How do you find God’s dream for your life when you feel as though so many doors close? I am closer to Him than ever before, yet am so confused. I have been a pleaser, and am working at not being the pleaser. I do have so many blessings in my life, with my grandbabies, and a new one on the way. I have wonderful children, and am working on local friendships, since I moved 4 years ago back to the area I raised my children. How does a person find their God given dream? I am getting connected at church. I saw you speak a few years ago and loved it… You are gifted. Thank you for your thoughts and writing…

  2. I relate to much of this! I rarely define a high-level goal, but “getting it done, right” is usually the description. I am excited for the new “Less Drama, More Delight” program. My category scores were all very high.
Praying for all of us who recognize the need for more Jesus!

  4. This makes so much sense, yet it is difficult for certain dreams; I.e., my dream is to live at the beach. There have been many things that have blocked that so far: finances, responsibilities for aging parents, resistance to change. What’s the broader unlockable goal to something like this?

    1. Pat, my immediate thought in response to your comment was “wow, that sounds so calm and relaxing, I’d love to live at the beach”
So maybe ask yourself, what is it that makes you want to live at the beach, is it walking in the sand, falling asleep to waves, living a more relaxed existence, spending more time in nature? Maybe those are your true top level goals? Living at the beach might be one good path to achieving that but there are other ways to meet those goals
